In light of the recent Coronavirus outbreak we have reviewed our handling of repeat prescriptions to reduce unnecessary footfall in the practice. With immediate effect we will enable our clients to request up to 6 months supply of flea and wormer medication, dependent on when your pet was last checked by a vet. When you call to order a repeat supply of flea and wormer medication let the receptionist know how many months supply you would like. One of our vets will try to fulfil this request. For clients with adult pets on the Pet Care Plan an effort will be made to give sufficient supply of medication to reach the next required appointment (6 month health check or booster).
For repeat prescriptions we currently cannot dispense more than 1 months supply of controlled drugs (Tralieve, tramadol, gabapentin, phenobarbitone). For other drugs the vet may be able to dispense a larger supply of repeat medication for an animal with a stable condition. This will be at the vet’s discretion and based on the clinical notes. When you ring to order a repeat prescription of such medication, a receptionist will ask if you would like to take more than a month’s supply, should the vet be able to prescribe a larger amount. Our current advice is to check a patient on long-term medication every 4 months and we will aim to continue with this plan for now.
We would like to assure our clients that we have your health in mind and to encourage you to wash your hands prior to arriving at the practice. Hand sanitisers are available on the reception desk and all of our consulting rooms also have hand washing facilities. Clients may choose to wait for their appointments outside or in their vehicle rather than in the waiting room. If you are feeling unwell please stay at home, but telephone the practice if you have concerns regarding your pets health.
