Pet Care Plan FAQS
How do I cancel the plan and will there be a cancellation fee?
You can cancel at any time, but if you cancel part way through a plan year, we will calculate the cost of the treatments you’ve received during that plan year (at the normal selling price) and deduct any payments made. If there is a shortfall, you will need to pay the difference or pay for the remainder of your plan year if this is less.
What if I have missed a payment or I have a problem with my Direct Debit?
If Premier Vet Alliance have been unable to collect a Direct Debit, they will attempt to collect the payment again around 4 days later. If this then fails we will contact you via email and the payment will need to be made directly to Ribble Vets. After 3 failed payments, the plan will be cancelled and additional charges may be incurred.
**Please note that we are charged £1.80 for every Direct Debit collection attempt whether successful or not and the system also places any home deliveries due on hold until the missed payment is settled.
I haven’t collected all the products and/or services that I’m entitled to for my pet this year. Can this be carried over into next year?
Our Pet Care Plan is designed to provide the preventative health care your pet requires for the year. This is an annual subscription model and as such we cannot facilitate the carrying over of products to the following year, or provide them after a plan has been cancelled.
Do I need Insurance?
Our Pet Care Plan is not an insurance policy and should not be used as a replacement or alternative to pet insurance. We recommend you take out pet insurance separately to provide cover for any unexpected illness/injury.
What is the difference between our Pet Care Plan and Insurance?
Our Pet Care Plan offers defined benefits for your pet’s preventative health care needs, such as vaccinations and parasite prevention treatments. Pet insurance covers the unexpected, issues we can’t predict. There are lots of different types of insurance so it is definitely worth doing some research on this and taking out a good policy to ensure you are covered for every eventuality.
Please see our separate client handout for more information on insurance policies.
What do I get reminders for?
Reminders can be sent for appointments, yearly vaccinations, kennel cough vaccinations, flea/wormer if not on home delivery, (these are set at 3 consecutive reminders and are (as above) reliant on treatment being requested and dispensed for collection.
Why haven’t I received a reminder?
There could be several reasons for you not receiving a reminder, such as we do not have your up to date mobile number (text reminders) or email address, or you have opted out of receiving certain reminders.
Please note that the obligation is with the client to know when treatment is due. Please check with reception what your reminder settings are enabled or your account.
I have multiple Pets on home delivery can they all have the same delivery date?
Unfortunately this isn’t always possible as the home delivery prescriptions are written in line with their renewal. If you set up all your pets on the same day they will have the same delivery date.
However, if your plans have been started at different times, this won’t be possible.
How do I know when my next delivery is due?
Your home delivery prescriptions are not fulfilled by Ribble Vets. They are sent directly from the wholesalers. We write a 12 month prescription which we try to coincide with your plan renewal, and delivery is then every 3 months. If you think your delivery is late please contact pcp@ribblevets.co.uk and we will be able to look into this for you.
How often does my pet need to be seen to receive their parasite prevention treatment?
In January 2024 the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (the professional body that we are governed by) brought in new legislation around how we dispense your pets parasite prevention treatment.
We now need to have carried out a physical flea, tick and worm risk assessment to be able to dispense preventative products, which needs to be done annually. It doesn’t need to be a separate appointment; we can do this at your pets’ annual vaccination or any other appointments with a vet. If it has been more than 12 months since we have seen your pet or if they are not due their vaccinations before we need to do this, we will contact you to arrange a complimentary appointment for this to be carried out.
If you any other questions at all relating to the Pet Health Care Plan, please just drop an email to pcp@ribblevets.co.uk and we will always do our best to help.
