A web-based charity that aims to find homes for stray and unwanted cats through a network of UK rescue and rehoming centres.

Cats Protection

The Preston branch of Cats Protection, a group of volunteers working to rescue and rehome stray and abandoned cats in our area. The group offer neutering vouchers to assist with the cost of the operation.

Dogs Trust

The largest dog welfare charity in the UK. A comprehensive website containing valuable information for dog owners. Their A-Z covers just about everything a dog owner needs to know - well worth a visit. Dogs Trust have thousands of stray and abandoned dogs in need of rehoming, and their website is a great resource for anyone considering offering a home to a rescue dog.

Feline Advisory Bureau

A fascinating and comprehensive website offering information relevant to cat owners, catteries, breeders and vets. In particular, their information on diseases is superb, and is a great resource for owners of cats that have been diagnosed with a health problem. Their behavioural information and general care articles are also very useful.

The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy

The feline equivalent of the Kennel Club. Their website contans excellent breed information and is a must for anyone considering owning a pedigree cat.

The Kennel Club is the UK’s largest organisation dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs. Their website is an excellent tool for anyone considering owning a pedigree dog, and can help to select the right breed to match your lifestyle. Their website also features iformation on breed standards and pre-breeding health tests.


PDSA are funded entirely by public support, and they provide veterinary care for the sick and injured animals of people in need. Their website has downloadable pet care leaflets, a useful summary of breed-specific conditions for prospective pedigree dog owners, and an eligibility checker for PDSA PetAid.
