Q: Can I see a particular Veterinary Surgeon at Wesham surgery?

A: Most of our vets work to a rota, and generally we are able to tell you in advance when a particular vet will be consulting at Wesham. Please telephone either Wesham or Penwortham surgeries and we will do our best to accommodate you. However, not all vets consult at Wesham, and due to the nature of our work and limited opening times at Wesham, it is not possible to guarantee that a requested veterinary surgeon will always be available, and they may have to attend an emergency call or assist in theatre at very short notice.

Q: When are your quietest surgeries?

A: It is impossible to predict ahead of time how busy a surgery will be. Generally, Monday evening and Saturday surgeries tend to be our busiest, but this is not always the case. If you have any concerns about waiting times, you are welcome to phone for advice or to book an appointment.

Q: Can I attend Wesham for all types of consultations?

A: Generally, most things can be attended to at Wesham. However, we request that you telephone first for Pets Passport/Exports, pregnancy scans and multiple vaccinations, e.g. litters of puppies/kittens. Certain types of blood testing can only be done by appointment and at particular times of day - please telephone for advice. We find that many clients prefer an appointment for euthanasia, and you are welcome to arrange this through the Penwortham or Wesham branches.

Q: What happens if I arrive outside of open surgery times without an appointment?

A: Our surgery times at Wesham are limited, and a vet is not present outside of these times. If you arrive when a vet is not in attendance, you may be asked to return to the next surgery, or directed to our Penwortham branch.

Q: What happens if I need to see a vet as an emergency?

A: We are always available for emergencies 24 hours a day. Please click here for more information.

Q: Can I collect medication, food, flea treatment and worming preparation from Wesham?

A: Yes you can. A receptionist is present after morning surgery each weekday until 1300. Please click here for advice on ordering medication and food.
